    • Add any directions needed to enter your building

  • Make sure there’s enough space to accommodate the massage table, leaving enough space for the therapist to move around it – a 2x2m space is ideal
  • If you are receiving a deep tissue or classic massage, try and make sure that your chosen room is warm and you may choose to relax your muscles with a warm bath or shower. Adjust the light in the room to your preference and you can light some candles to create a spa-like atmosphere
  • The therapist will provide music however you can play your own music if you prefer or can request a silent treatment

You can undress to a level that you are comfortable with. Our services are strictly professional and you are required to wear your lower half underwear at all times during your treatment. Prior to your treatment starting, the practitioner will step outside so you can get undressed in privacy. At the end of the treatment, they will leave the room to allow you to slowly get up and dressed.

During treatment, only the area being worked on will be exposed.

For a Sports Massage, the level of undress required will vary depending on the area being worked on and type of injury, but this will be discussed during the consultation

Prior to the massage, feel free to ask the practitioner any questions.

During the massage, make yourself comfortable. For a classic or deep tissue massage, many people just close their eyes and completely relax, communicating if they feel they need more or less pressure and some like to talk throughout the massage. Don’t feel like you have to make conversation, we will take the cue from you as to your preference!

A sports massage tends to require more feedback during the session as the therapist will often work on deeper layers of muscle and will want to ensure that the pressure is comfortable.

Massage can have a dehydrating effect on the body, so ensure you drink plenty of water after.

You can expect to feel relaxed and calm following a classic and deep tissue massage. So try and arrange time afterwards to wind down.

Following a regular sports massage, you may feel a little tired or sore immediately after so take it easy for the remainder of the day.

If you are training for an event, the type of sports massage can be tailored to you so that your muscles will feel more energized instead – for example, in a pre-event massage, lighter techniques are used to boost circulation and make recovery time quicker following strenuous exercise.

A professional massage therapist cares about alleviating your aching muscles, stress levels and helping  promote a sense of well being and never about what you look like. We want to help you!

Your massage therapist will keep you covered at all times and will only uncover the parts that they are working on, if you would prefer for an area to be avoided we are more than happy to oblige to make you feel more comfortable.

Common concerns of clients are:

  • Being self conscious about scars, stretch marks, body hair and cellulite
  • Having a flare up of acne
  • Believing they are overweight

None of the above are a concern to us and we are non-judgemental. Every body is different and you shouldn’t feel afraid to seek a massage because you don’t fit what you believe to be a ‘societal body ideal’.

Please contact us if you have an concerns about this, we can help you in an accepting way, no matter what your worries may be.

A sports massage is likely to be more intense than a Deep Tissue but should never be painful, the pressure can always be adjusted to suit you – everyone’s tolerance and needs are different. Some techniques will be more uncomfortable than others such as trigger point therapy that can cause discomfort in those recovering from injuries. Constant communication will be provided during these techniques and will be discontinued should anything be beyond the clients comfort level.

Following your massage, your muscles can feel sore for a 24-48 hours, though it may also help to alleviate existing soreness long-term.

Before your session, the therapist will ask some general health questions and it is important that your inform them of any health problems or medications you are taking, especially for a sports massage.
